The Center for Workplace Compliance (CWC), our affiliated nonprofit membership association, has issued its March-April 2026 Interstate, which details recent state and local workplace compliance developments.

The Interstate discusses fair employment developments, including diverse interview slates (Florida); employment discrimination (New Jersey, New York, Virginia); posting and notice requirements (Connecticut, Maine); reasonable accommodation (Ohio); retaliation (Virginia); and salary history and pay transparency (Virginia).

It includes updates about immigration, including notice of I-9 inspections (Washington) and undocumented workers (New Jersey). Regarding wage and hour issues, it discusses child labor (Washington); compensable time (Illinois); and paid family and medical leave (Virginia). Furthermore, it covers labor relations, specifically collective bargaining jurisdiction (Washington).

The Interstate also addresses artificial intelligence (Colorado); biometric privacy (Illinois); commercial image rights (Puerto Rico); preemption of local law (Iowa, Tennessee); noncompete agreements (Virginia, Washington); and workplace safety (Virginia).
