On February 15, President Trump’s pick to be the next secretary of labor, restaurant executive Andrew Puzder, withdrew from consideration on the eve of a scheduled confirmation hearing. The next day, R. Alexander Acosta, currently dean of the Florida International University Law School and a former official in the George W. Bush Administration was announced as the new nominee to fill the position of labor secretary.
Puzder’s decision to withdraw restarts the nomination process, meaning there will be a further delay in filling the top leadership roles at the Department of Labor (DOL) — including a new director of the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) — and in the implementation of any significant policy changes.
