The Department of Labor (DOL), through its Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP), has announced it is seeking formal approval to conduct a nationwide survey to better understand and assess how employers perceive their efforts to employ individuals with disabilities.
In a notice published in the Federal Register on May 23, 2017, DOL states that it is going to ask the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for approval under the federal Paperwork Reduction Act (PRA) to conduct the “Survey of Employer Policies on the Employment of People with Disabilities.” According to DOL’s notice, information collected from the survey will allow ODEP to “engage employers on how to hire, retain, and promote individuals with disabilities.”
Under PRA procedures, interested parties have until July 24, 2017, to submit comments to DOL before the agency submits a formal request to OMB.
