Labor Department’s Office of Disability Employment Policy Gets Green Light To Survey Current Employer Practices

The White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) has approved a request from the Department of Labor’s (DOL) Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP) to conduct a nationwide survey of employers to better understand and assess how they perceive their efforts to employ individuals with disabilities.

ODEP announced its intention to conduct the survey a year ago in an effort to allow the agency to “engage employers on how to hire, retain, and promote individuals with disabilities,” and had been awaiting approval from OMB to move forward.

Participation in the survey, which will be conducted by Westat on ODEP’s behalf and will involve telephone interviews, case studies, and qualitative interviews, is voluntary. An ODEP official contacted by us indicated that the survey is expected to begin during the first week of July.
