The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has published two new “fact sheets” addressing the rights under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of persons living with Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infection.
The first fact sheet, “Living with HIV Infection: Your Legal Rights in the Workplace Under the ADA,” is aimed at individuals with HIV infection and briefly summarizes the employment-related protections provided by the ADA.
The second fact sheet, “Helping Patients with HIV Infection Who Need Accommodations at Work,” is directed primarily to health care providers. It briefly explains the law of reasonable accommodation under the ADA and the health care provider’s role in that process in the particularized context of patients living with HIV.
