President Biden has issued a new Executive Order (E.O.) 14020 establishing a White House “Gender Policy Council” (Council) to coordinate federal government efforts to advance gender equity and equality in numerous areas, including combatting systemic biases and discrimination as well as sexual harassment.

The Council, composed of high level government officials, including all cabinet secretaries and the Chair of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), is to begin by developing a strategy to advance gender equity throughout the United States and abroad. Among other things, it is reasonable to expect the strategy might ultimately call for new legislation and revisions to workplace regulations enforced by the EEOC and the Labor Department’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP).
