The White House Office of Management and Budget has approved the OFCCP’s veteran affirmative action requirements and extended them for three years. The Labor Department’s written AAP requirements under Section 4212 of the Vietnam Era Veterans’ Readjustment Assistance Act have a new expiration date of September 30, 2029.

OMB’s approval ensures that the VEVRAA recordkeeping and reporting requirements remain in place. Covered federal contractors should ensure that their veteran compliance programs continue to comply with mandatory activities such as engaging in and evaluating outreach to protected veterans, extending opportunities to applicants and employees to self-identify as a protected veteran, and providing VEVRAA training to all personnel involved in the recruitment, selection, and disciplinary processes.

OMB’s action follows DOL’s recent Final Rule making minor administrative changes to its VEVRAA regulations.
